We dedicate our site to the 1.3 billion individuals living with a disability in our world of 8.3 billion people.

Why? Because people with disabilities are underrated and the world all too often takes them for granted. Indeed, with the likes of Russia bombing Ukraine, in my opinion a vast majority of the population of Ukraine must be suffering from PTSD, with no journalist or news reporter writing about this silent epidemic, which goes also for the Iranian people who are being terrorized by their own government.

And yet, we think of the likes of Franklin D. Roosevelt who became president of the United States in spite of having no use of his legs; Helen Keller, who learned to read and write in five different languages despite being deaf, dumb and blind; and Stephen Hawkings, one of the greatest physicist of the last century, who wrote the best seller called “A Brief History of Time”, and uncovered the black holes of the universe, who married twice and had children in spite of the fact that he was completely paralyzed. The list of great people with disabilities could fill volumes regarding their contributions.

Yes, we do have the Special Olympics. Eunice Kennedy Shriver (God bless her) founded the Special Olympics. It grew out of Camp Shriver, a summer camp she started in 1962 for young people with intellectual disabilities. The first Special Olympics Games took place in Chicago in July 1968 and continues to grow every year. We need more organizations upholding the equality of people with disabilities and the general public.

And we at Outrageous Thinking want to contribute by dedicating our site to people with disabilities, and urge all advertising companies and corporations to include us in their commercials, cinima, and all other media outlets (Yes, I have a number of disabilities myself, including PTSD; Impaired vision; as well as an essential tremor).

I have been blessed in two major ways throughout my life, when I taught children with cognitive disabilities, as well as being the creator of “We” magazine, a lifestyle consumer publication for adults with disabilities.
